I've seen uglier LOL.. It's funny how much brutalism is on the waterfront! The Shoreline Apartments, the Marine Drive Apartments, the Buffalo News building, etc.. You know what, I think I will write a whole separate post. Thank you for the inspiration, Monica!!
That would be amazing! It would be a thrill to do a lighthouse, though I would likely have to find one around here. Have you climbed the St. Augustine lighthouse, Amy?
They are SO beautiful! Now I want to go back on a rainy day, to get different vistas! My brother George was just saying that because you can go up in the tower in the rain, it's a great place to take your kids when they're little.
It can be argued that the Larkin Administration Building of 1906 was Buffalo's first Brutalist structure. Russell Sturgis called it "a monster of awkwardness".
Frank Lloyd Wright, guilty of brutalism! We should put together a list of brutalist buildings. Many are visible from the Observation Tower! The Shoreline Apartments, the Marine Drive Apartments... Thank you, Jerry, for the inspiration!
It's truly an ugly building, but the views! Worth the trip! Thank you, Mary.

Come see Lockport's City Hall. It's so ugly that it inspires zero civic pride.
Next up: The St. Augustine lighthouse!!!

Sure did!!!!!!!
What was it like? Why do you recommend it? It looks beautiful online!
I recommend the challenge! The stairs are awesome, the view is lovely, and St. Augustine itself is cool.
Beautiful Buffalo views.

Ironic, I guess, that one of the great features of the view from the top is that the brutalist tower itself is not in it!
Marty, LOL, I actually took a picture from the top of the brutalist tower that shows the bottom of the tower. I'll have to post that picture!

If only those unwieldy walls could talk! (The Buffalo News Building)
