Musical Notes
🎵 Musical Notes is where I share thoughts, memories, and musings from a life lived in music. I served as the classical music critic for The Buffalo News for over 20 years, covering symphonies, soloists, and everything in between. I’m also a classical pianist—I performed in the first Van Cliburn International Piano Competition for Outstanding Amateurs—and a choral singer with the St. Louis Choir and the St. John Paul II Schola Cantorum.
I am the author of the book "Pennario," chronicling the three months I spent in California with the Grammy Award-winning pianist Leonard Pennario, taking down his memoirs. He was a friend, a legend, and a major figure in American music—and telling his story changed my life.
Classical Music on 15 Minutes a Day
Musical masterpieces for busy people. From Mozart to Mahler—just 15 minutes a day. That's it. That's the magic. 🎵 In case we have not met, I served as the classical music critic for The Buffalo News for over 20 years, covering symphonies, soloists, and everything in between. What's New at the Zoo
I live across the street from the Buffalo Zoo! It dates to the Victorian age -- it's the second oldest zoo in the country. You can't beat its animal appeal! I joined the zoo and I walk there a lot and I love to observe the animals.
