"habit"...well put amy...i am now in the "habit" after a month. Mainly to beat the dreariness of short days. hey i found that "christmas n the rhine" record mary. since i have mom's collection, it must be the same one. it has the dust jacket still btw.
George, I got my own Christmas on the Rhine record somehow... it also has the dust jacket. What a great record.. the music is just luminous! And the big bells!
Mary, I love your observance that in a choir you learn the music from the inside out. I believe in this way it becomes part of you. In fact, I love that each performance is unique and creates the music anew - every time from the inside out. It’s of the beauties of singing in a choir!
Mary, your description of how you felt after singing Laudate Dominum led me to recall the high I sometimes experienced after singing with the Buffalo Schola Cantorum (now BP Chorus). Thank you for that. Incidentally, I was in the audience for your performance, which was beyond beautiful.
Ron, I love that you were there for "Carols by Candlelight." Thank you!! It was a challenge for me. We have to compare notes sometime on choral singing ... it really is an adventure. That must have been quite an experience singing with the Buffalo Schola Cantorum. (p.s. I wish they had kept that name!)
That's great you have a record player! What I am learning is you have to put it where you can relax comfortably and listen. Sometimes you have to move it around several times until you find a location that works.
I’m a big fan of early music, and Gaudete has always stopped me in my tracks. Here’s a version from Finland that is recorded on Jordy Savall’s record label. Side note: Jordy Savall and his group were guests of the Buffalo Chamber Music Society a few years ago-an unforgettable performance of Medieval and renaissance music.
George, I am grateful you got me onto those cheap Amazon record players! I have two now -- thinking of getting yet another one, to put upstairs. They are the greatest!
So........Howard the Duck....

Janet, yes, it does become a part of you! What an experience that concert was. We'll always remember it!

We have a record player, but still haven’t created the habit of using it. Working on that.
I want a Gaudete sparkler!! It sounds “heavenly”.

That Gaudete Sparkler is a cocktail that must be tried! When I make one, I'll have to take pictures and post them. Watch, we've created a new classic!
