I play in a flute choir that practices in Amherst (18 of us, everything from bass flute to piccolo) and also in the Boston Town Band. I should also practice scales, exercises and tone work, but the pieces are much more fun!

Marie, flute exercises sound particularly onerous! I admire you for your practice regimen. You must be very accomplished! I love the idea of a flute choir, too. What an experience!

Loved this article! I took an Intro to Dance class at UB, and loved wearing leotards legitimately! I also play flute, and hate doing the exercises! I know they're beneficial, but sometimes it's hard just finding the time to practice our performance pieces. Good luck with your quest!

Marie, that is a great way to put it, "wearing leotards legitimately." I think Intro to Dance was one of the classes I took. Also Ballet for Non-Majors and Jazz Dancing. Some of the UB Bulls were in my ballet class ... good times! That's wonderful you play flute. We will have to commiserate about our exercises. What music are you working on? Let me know when you get a sec. Thank you for your good wishes!
