Last night as twilight was falling I headed out for a walk. I had a lot of work to do so I could not get out earlier. Plus I like this time, when the lanterns come on.
Also, the snow makes things bright. When I was skiing the other night with my brother George, we were talking about how it was bright as day.
I admired the frosted bison, as shown in the video up above. They looked like sugared gingerbread cakes.
Buffalo wears snow well. The city looks its prettiest in the winter. Winter brings out the Buffalo Zoo’s Victorian infrastructure, its wrought iron gates and fences.
Here is one thing about Buffalo that is under the radar.
We lead the world in bossy signs!
There is no wrought iron fence that is so idyllic that it cannot be covered in signs chastising and admonishing the citizens.
Back to my walk. This lantern is just perfectly covered in snow.
I almost never put my photos through any kind of filter however I put the lantern through a Vivid filter so we can see how perfectly the snow is piled on top of it.
The Delaware Park Lodge. Cushy jobs are to be had there. I have seen people who work in that lodge and they do not look stressed, oh no no no.
The golf shack. And, in the background, the mighty municipal garage.
I could not take many pictures because my fingers began freezing whenever I tried. I had to be judicious.
I am glad I took this picture! That tree trunk. Every time I walk around Delaware Park I admire the tree trunks.
Whenever I see a perfectly snowy evening I get this “Nothing gold can stay” feeling. The snow stays on the rooftops and the tree branches for just a short time until something shifts, and while it is still pretty it is not perfect.
We have to enjoy it while we can!
Amy, what a beautiful idea! I am going to follow up on it and use the note card to send you a thank you note!
Kathie, thank you!! I do love the winter. My neighborhood gets so quiet!
